Barwell v Lincoln at Barwell
Sunday 15th December

A slight change to the team from last game Lin Mountain coming into the mixed rinks as Sheila Plaskitt was unwell.

Penny Strong in the 2 WOOD LADIES SINGLES had a great start winning 8 of the first 11 ends to lead by 9 shots to 4. Sally Ann Lewis Wall then won the next 5 ends to take the tie score to 12 shots to 9 in her favour. The next 8 ends saw the board tick over on both sides and after 24 ends the score was 16 shots all. Penny then dug deep into all her years of experience finish with a 1,2,2 to take the tie 21-16

Lincoln 2 – 0 Barwell

George Draper v Graham Barnes in the 2 WOOD MEN’S SINGLES had an even closer game shots been shared throughout and after 26 ends the tie stood at 20 shots to 19 in George’s favour. The next end saw George lose it on a measure to make the scores 20-20. With Graham nailing the pot with his second bowl George was unable to beat it.

Lincoln 2 – 2 Barwell

In the MIXED PAIRS Chantal Spencer & Jonathan West against Barbra Lewis and Chris Moore always looked in control and at 16 ends held the lead by 16 shots to 11. But wait a minute with Jonathan with his last bowl in hand on the 17th end was 5 down. With him running down the rink shouting at it, it picked up the jack and made 4 shots, “Great bowl Jonathan”. Dropping 4 on the last end the rink score ended 20 shots to 15 in Lincoln’s favour.

Lincoln 6 – 2 Barwell

Looking across the rinks at this stage the MIXED TRIPLES of Louise Catchpole, Dean Stevenson and Billy Jackson v V Hobart, B Hobart & J Dawson after been 12-1 down at 6 ends were trailing 5-12 after 8 ends.
With the MIXED RINKS of Rachel Jackson, Lin Mountain, Richard Ashton & Kevin Rands v M Warren, C Locking, M Davies & D Delahay making a comeback from 6-13 down at 10 ends to pull level at 16 ends to 14 shots all. The game looked as if it was possibly going down to shot difference. Unless the rinks could win the remaining 2 ends.
As the nerves captain looked on the rinks did the business picking up a 3 and a 1 winning the rink 18-14, winning 7 of the last 8 ends.

Lincoln 10 – 2 Barwell

The mixed triples finished 7-17 (11 ends)
4 points to Barwell
Lincoln 10 – 6 Barwell

Well done Lincoln great performance played with a great team spirit encouraging each other right to the end.
A drink well earned. Just to finish off with a toast to Louise on her engagement to Matt Whyers congratulations from us all.
